Walk MS: Permian Basin

Walk MS: Permian Basin will unite hundreds of Permian Basin-area residents to support the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in its quest to stop MS in its tracks, restore what has been lost and end MS forever. The fundraising event will take place on Saturday, April 9 at Sherwood Park. Participants can choose from a one-mile or a three-mile route option. Participants are invited to enjoy refreshments and entertainment before and after the event. Visit walkms.org to register to walk, volunteer or donate. Event day activities will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by a 10:00 a.m. start time for the walk. There is no registration fee and no minimum pledge commitment; however, the average walker raises $250 to support research initiatives, programs and services of the Society. Individuals interested in joining or creating a team can sign up online with co-workers, friends, family and neighbors.

Food Is Medicine

MIDLAND HEALTH PRESENTS FOOD IS MEDICINE: A WELLNESS EVENT INTRODUCING PLANT-BASED NUTRITION REGISTRATION BEGINS AT 7:30 AM Dr. Scott Stoll, former Olympic athlete, nutrition expert and co-founder of the Plantrician Project and the International Plant-Based Nutrition Healthcare Conference, is one of the speakers. He will be joined by Dr. Michael Greger, an internationally renowned nutrition expert, who runs the website nutritionfacts.org and testified on behalf of Oprah Winfrey’s successful defense when she was sued by the beef industry. Cardiologist Dr. William C. Roberts will also be on the agenda who is the current editor of both the American Journal of Cardiology and the Baylor University Center Proceedings. Finally, Nelson Campbell, director of the film “PlantPure Nation” and president of the non-profit foundation PPN, will be on hand to discuss an exciting initiative for the Permian Basin.
